MEASURING YOUR EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR SHUTTERS

When measuring exterior shutters to be historically correct, shutters should fit inside the exterior casing, using the correct hardware. If your windows are new, with metal or plastic jambs you may want to add 3/4" to each shutter width. Care must be taken not to pierce the window jamb when nailing in the pintle which supports the hinge. If your not sure, call us. We will be happy to answer all your questions.

Exterior shutters; measure inside window casing; width and height.

Interior shutters; measure from window sill to inside top of casing. For half window shutters, measure from sill to top of lower window. When measuring width for inside shutters always measure bottom, middle, and top of window between the trim. Use smallest measurement.
